Port Everglades sets ôpeople moverö workshop
Plans for a proposed 'people mover' that would run between Port Everglades and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport will be reviewed at a special hearing Jan. 10 in Fort Lauderdale.
Formally known as the Broward County Intermodal Center and People Mover System, it would shuttle cruise ship passengers between the airport and the seaport. The idea is to decrease traffic congestion at both facilities. The project also calls for the construction of an 'Intermodal Center' that would serve as a transfer point for passengers.
The workshop will be held at the Broward County African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, 2650 N.W. 6th St. (Sistrunk Boulevard) in Fort Lauderdale. Exhibits and project information will be on display at 6 p.m. A presentation begins at 7 p.m., with a question and answer session after the basic presentation.
