Canadian National Railway, the Alabama State Port Authority and APM Terminals Mobile signed a memorandum of understanding on the new rail terminal currently under construction at the Port of Mobile.
Canadian National Railway has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Alabama State Port Authority and APM Terminals Mobile to increase supply chain efficiency and expand the geographic reach of the intermodal rail facility currently under construction at the Port of Mobile.
The $32-million rail terminal, which is being built by the Alabama State Port Authority, is scheduled for completion in Spring 2016.
CN’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs Mark Hallman said CN is not contributing financially to the cost of the rail terminal.
“The MOU will facilitate ongoing discussions among the parties concerning the new intermodal connection and to the operational performance of the supply chain, highlighting opportunities to connect the port with CN and its affiliated railroads to drive new import, export and domestic volumes between the U.S. Midwest and various Canadian points,” said Hallman.
