IICL names Younger chairman
The Institute of International Container Lessors has elected Peter Younger, chief executive officer and president of Cronos Ltd., to chairman for 2011.
He succeeds Joseph Kwok of SeaCube Containers. Younger has served as Cronos' CEO since 2007 and is based in San Francisco.
The IICL also elected Brian Sondey, president and CEO of TAL International, to first vice president; David Amble, CEO of GE-SeaCo, to second vice president; and George Elkas, president of Flexi-Van, to treasurer. Jeffrey Gannon, president of Beacon Intermodal Leasing, and Simon Vernon, president of Triton Container International, were named directors at large.
The IICL is a 40-year-old trade association representing lessors of maritime containers and intermodal chassis. Its members include Beacon Intermodal Leasing, CAI International, Cronos, Flexi-Van Leasing, Florens Container Services Co., GE SeaCO Services, Gold Container Corp., SeaCube Containers, TAL International Container Corp., Textainer Equipment Management (U.S.) Ltd., TRAC Intermodal, and Triton Container International Limited. These companies own or manage about 90 percent of the global leased container fleet, representing nearly half of the world container fleet and half of the U.S. chassis fleet operated by ocean carriers, railroads, and other companies.
