The next generation of supple, high-tech TMS systems has arrived. 3Gtms, the fast-growing transportation management software (TMS) company founded in 2013 and headquartered in Shelton, Connecticut, is integrating 10-4 Systems’ visibility and automation capabilities for its customers. 3Gtms was founded by TMS industry veteran Mitch Weseley, who conceived of the company as the next generation of TMS products, replacing obsolete platforms built in the late 1990s. 10-4, a comprehensive supply chain technology company operating out of offices in Boulder, Colorado and Grand Rapids, Michigan, was founded in 2012 and acquired by Trimble in September 2017.

“One of the things we focus on is how we can help the transportation industry create greater efficiencies and get the information they need,” said Bryn Fosburgh, President, Trimble Transportation Enterprise. “Having partners like 3Gtms who share our determination to accomplish this is important to us, and the team at 3Gtms really worked collaboratively with us to make this integration a reality.”

3Gtms emphasizes its platform’s multimodal flexibility: shipper, carrier, and 3PL customers can self-configure the product and on-board it months faster than competing TMS systems, which are antiquated, rigid, and bloated by comparison. Gartner placed 3Gtms on its ‘Magic Quadrant’ of TMS providers for the first time this March, categorizing it as a ‘niche player’ weighted toward the company’s ability to execute:

“We consider our positioning in the Niche Players quadrant of this Magic Quadrant by Gartner a confirmation of our mission to deliver a TMS unlike anything else on the market in terms of design and flexibility,” said Mitch Weseley, CEO of 3Gtms. “We feel that our technology continues to wow our customers by enabling them to optimize their transportation with more power and efficiency than ever before, such as our industry-first offering of Continuous Pool Optimization.”

Gartner’s criteria for inclusion in its Magic Quadrant include: breadth of the TMS (including system-of-innovation capabilities like tactical planning and fleet management); depth of the TMS, usability and adaptability, global go-to-market strategy, partner ecosystem, and vision, thought leadership, and roadmap.

Gartner wrote that 3Gtms’ strengths include “strong growth in the past two years and has had some strong customer wins in the 3PL industry, mainly due to its strong multienterprise optimization capabilities, innovative capabilities such as continuous pool optimization, which is a key differentiator in the TMS market, and a strong partnership with TMW (Trimble Transportation), providing clients advanced capabilities across both TMS and vehicle routing capabilities. It is also one of the few shipper/3PL TMSs that offers brokerage capabilities.”

10-4 prides itself on providing its customers with rich data sets that include product and SKU level detail, temperature tracking capabilities, platforms for last mile delivery details, exception management, visibility into traffic delays, risk scoring beyond weather, dynamic ETAs, user friendly interfaces and custom features and functions that are all mobile-ready.

3Gtms’ enhanced visibility and analytics capabilities, powered by 10-4’s Peak Visibility solution, are already live in the 3Gtms platform.
