American Trucking Associations form intermodal unit
The American Trucking Associations, based in Alexandria, Va., have set up an Intermodal Motor Carriers Conference during the trucking associations’ conference and exhibition this week in Las Vegas.
Established as an alliance for motor carriers involved in intermodal trucking, the Intermodal Motor Carriers Conference has elected as its chairman John Drewes, the president and chief executive officer of Sacramento, Calif.-based Devine Intermodal. Dave Manning, of Tennessee Express, was elected first vice-chairman and Phil Byrd, of Bulldog Hiway Express, second vice-chairman.
“The time is ripe to promote the interests of intermodal motor carriers on legislative and regulatory issues at all levels of government and to aggressively advance operational safety and security,” Drewes said.
Intermodal service is among the fastest growing sectors in the transportation industry, the American Trucking Associations said.
