Over the past several years, “culture” has become something of a buzzword in the corporate world. Despite this trending vernacular, the things that make up a company’s culture – energy, diversity and values – are the same things that determine whether or not people want to work there. At Axle Logistics, the answer is a resounding “yes.”

The Tennessee-based company was recently named a 2022 Knoxville Top Workplace for the fourth consecutive year. Winning companies were selected based on anonymous employee engagement surveys that aimed to measure 15 culture drivers, including alignment, execution and connection. The surveys were administered by Energage, a third-party company.

“During this very challenging time, top workplaces have proven to be a beacon of light for organizations, as well as a sign of resiliency and strong business performance,” Energage CEO Eric Rubino said in a press release. “When you give your employees a voice, you come together to navigate challenges and shape your path forward. Top workplaces draw on real-time insights into what works best for their organization, so they can make informed decisions that have a positive impact on their people and their business.”

Feedback from Axle employees makes it clear that the company fosters an engaging, high-energy work atmosphere where hard workers are set up for success.

“Axle has a fast-paced, high-energy office environment where it is truly fun to come into work every day,” Axle Logistics Consultant Olivia McGowan said. “We work hard to service our customers, and we are rewarded and compensated for our efforts daily. It is hard work with high reward.”

In an industry where change is the only constant, a fast-paced approach is often the best – and only – option. This spirited environment is never sustained at the expense of the company’s employees, though. Axle has a track record of caring for its people, understanding that human beings are ultimately the organization’s greatest asset.

“Axle’s culture is unmatched because – if you put in the work and do the right things – you will be rewarded no matter how old you are or how long you’ve been with the company,” Axle General Manager Chuck Munsey said. “In everything we do, Axle understands that if you take care of the people, the people will take care of the business.”

The logistics industry boasts plenty of “old timers,” as well as more than a handful of successful family businesses. While this makes for a rich and storied history, it can also make outsiders feel like. . . well, outsiders. Axle’s openness – as well as its dedication to providing equal rewards for equal work – fights this perception.

“I love the true opportunities we have here to #BuildYourEmpire – our professional and personal empires,” Axle Logistics Consultant Anderson Olds said. “It’s not just a statement.”
