“I wanna make drivers’ lives a lot safer, but I think we’re all feeling the pinch of some of these crazy nuclear verdicts,” Boyce said. “They started using the word thermonuclear to describe how large these cases are.”

The product’s core selling point is modularity. All interior compartments within the Trucker Tote chassis can be swapped out to match specific workflows — whether that is a larger paperwork tray for an LTL driver managing freight documents or a reconfigured layout for an outside sales rep who shifts the vehicle between work and family use during the same day.

Boyce said the concept grew directly from his own cab experience. Loose items shifting inside the cab create split-second distractions that, for drivers spending far more time behind the wheel than average commuters, occur with much greater frequency. “Since truck drivers are inside the cab for just so much more time than the average commuter is in a vehicle, those things happen a lot more frequently,” he said.

Boyce is currently running the venture while driving full-time, relying on offshore administrative help and AI tools to manage tasks he cannot handle on the road. He credited smartphone-era technologies — audiobooks, YouTube, and now AI assistants — with narrowing the information gap for working drivers trying to build businesses.

The company’s immediate priority is landing a fleet large enough to move into production and generate safety data. Boyce said he wants to answer a specific question with that data: does a more organized, less stressed driver make better decisions, and do better decisions translate into fewer accidents? If the numbers support that hypothesis, he believes Trucker Tote can make a case to the broader industry — fleets, insurers, and safety advocates alike.
