DHL Express, the air and ground express unit of German transport and logistics giant Deutsche Post DHL, said Friday it will raise its 2021 published rates on U.S. traffic by 4.9%, effective Jan. 1.

The DHL unit said it will provide additional rate details, including any add-on fees known in the parcel-delivery trade as “accessorials,” no later than mid-October. A spokesman said he was unaware of any surcharges to be imposed during the upcoming peak holiday shipping season.

DHL Express serves the U.S. with international service only. It ended domestic U.S. operations in January 2009. Most of DHL’s U.S. business is inbound from points in its 220-nation network.

The increases will apply to non-contract shipments tendered to DHL Express.
