DHL reaches deal with Walgreens
DHL said it has reached a deal that will allow shippers to send packages from Walgreen drug stores.
By the end of the year, the companies expect the service to be available from all 6,500 Walgreens.
DHL has a similar arrangement where shippers can send packages from about 800 OfficeMax stores.
About 3,700 independent mailing and package centers also act as retail locations where DHL products can be dropped off, so by the end of the year, the company expects to have about 11,000 retail outlets.
Overnight, ground or international delivery services will be available at “DHL Shipping Spots” that will be staffed by Walgreens associates at Walgreens photo counters to weigh, label and ship customer packages.
“Expanding DHL’s retail presence is an important next step in our U.S. retail strategy, as well as our small to mid-size business growth plans,” said Hans Hickler, chief executive officer of DHL Express (USA).
