India ship registry opens Houston office
The Indian Register of Shipping has opened an office in Houston to tap the North American oil and gas shipping markets, according to a report in the Economic Times.
It's the first U.S. office for the register, something Indian Consul General Sanjeev Arora called a 'milestone in Indo-U.S. commerce and trade.'
The register, which is looking to become a member of the International Association of Classification Societies, also has offices in the Far East, United Arab Emirates, Europe, United Kingdom and Asia.
“IRS will act as a catalyst of self-regulation by Indian s hipping industries and to serve as a forum of research and development,” said IRS Chairman Capt. J.C. Anand.
