Retention through safety with Idelic – Taking the Hire Road

Many in the trucking industry do what they can to maintain their drivers’ safety, but a common problem many run into is the ability to maintain communication with drivers effectively regarding safety, performance and satisfaction — all among some of the top reasons for high turnover rates.

“We have all come to realize that drivers are the backbone of not only this industry but the country. We want to help ensure that drivers are productive, satisfied and safe on the road,” said Hayden Cardiff, founder and chief innovation officer at Idelic. “Those are the most important aspects of what a fleet can do because that is what helps the wheels turn — everything stems from that.”

Working as a consultant in the trucking space and working with many fleets across the country before Idelic, Cardiff saw an opportunity out of this common underlying issue.

“None of their systems are working together to properly engage with and coach drivers or enable them to feel satisfied and safe on the roads, so we created Idelic from there,” Cardiff said.

Idelic is dedicated to proactively predicting and preventing crashes and reducing driver turnover through a driver performance management platform called Safety Suite — built specifically for fleet professionals.

“We want drivers to feel they are being watched after and not watched over,” Cardiff said.

Idelic is not only dedicated to helping the driver community feel valued and safe but also to helping fleet managers protect themselves and create effective procedures through better understanding of risk, what motivates drivers and their expectations. With Safety Suite, fleet managers can manage all insights within one location, allowing a better way for fleets to manage their safety and operational performance.

“It all boils down to how we can, as a partner, help fleets better understand the driver’s expectations and help better deliver on that in a consistent way,” Cardiff said.

Cardiff, through Idelic, is not committed to just switching to the latest technology, but partnering, through technology like Safety Suite, with those in the industry to find the best solutions.

“Trucking is such a phenomenal place because not only is it such a large and meaningful industry, but it’s also full of dedicated people and professionals who are trying to solve really big and important problems,” Cardiff said. “And they’re not just looking for technology, they’re looking for solutions, and they are willing to adopt new technology if it solves the problems.”
