Tampa Port Authority buys box facility to expand
The Tampa Port Authority said Thursday that it has bought a 17-acre container handling facility from the local company Intermodal Shipping Services as part of its expansion plan.
The port authority said that it wants to continue to expand its general cargo and container activities.
“Intermodal Shipping Services will now focus on its core business of inland transportation and transloading operations,” said Arthur Savage, president of the company. Intermodal Shipping Services will have up to one year to secure new office space and property to relocate its transportation and transloading operations.
Intermodal Shipping Services built the container handling facility on port authority land in 2000.
