AIR FREIGHT SECURITY ADDRESSED IN INDUSTRY FOCUS GROUPS

AIR FREIGHT SECURITY ADDRESSED IN INDUSTRY FOCUS GROUPS

CF AirFreight has recently completed presentations in several U.S. cities concerning the impact of new security regulations on the movement of air cargo.

“Shippers remain concerned about new security procedures and their potential effect on air-freight movement,” said Richard McCrady Sr., president of CF AirFreight.

McCrady predicted that more security provisions would be introduced by government agencies as the supply chain process continues to be evaluated. He said that security is an issue not only for airports and carriers, but shippers also.

During the sessions, held with shippers and carriers in Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Dallas, and Los Angeles, McCrady urged shippers to pay increased attention to their own security procedures such as:

   * Ensuring that proper hiring practices and background checks are in place.

   * Restricting non-employee personnel access to physical facilities.

   * Equipping computer systems with firewalls and other safeguards to prevent intrusion.
