MOL to handle project shipments to China
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has won an order to transport components for the Nanhai petrochemicals project, the largest ethylene plant project in China.
Most of the cargo will originate in Japan and South Korea and will be moved by special barges and overland to Huizhou, Guangdong province, where JGC Corp. is building the facility.
The total volume of the order will be 150,000 tons, including about 2,500 TEUs in containers, said MOL. A large volume of heavy loads in the 1,000-, 500-, and 100-ton ranges will be shipped independently, including a 1,300-ton “C3” rectifier, which is the heaviest item of the project.
