MFCA TO PARTICIPATE IN STUDY ON DIESEL FUEL EXPOSURE
The Motor Freight Carriers Association will cooperate, along with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, in a Harvard Medical School study to measure the effects of exposure to diesel fuel exhaust.
Harvard recently received $4.77 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to conduct the study. The study will measure the current exposure to diesel exhaust at more than 100 unionized trucking terminals, both large and small, urban and rural. The researchers will also track the work and health histories of Teamsters employed with MFCA carriers since 1985.
MFCA consists of seven trucking firms: ABF Freight Systems, A-P-A Transport Corp., Airborne Express, Consolidated Freightways, New Penn Motor Express, Roadway Express, and Yellow Freight System.
