Before joining ATA, Mason was partner and senior vice president with Randall Reilly, a B2B multimedia and data company based in Tuscaloosa, AL.  Mason led the company’s multi-platform Trucking Media division, including print, digital and event brands, and was instrumental in the acquisition, development and strategic growth of the Randall Reilly products serving the fleet and owner-operator markets.

In bringing on Mason to FreightWaves, the company plans to build out the content and editorial staff, develop a world-class brand providing news and commentary on how the freight markets and technology impact the participants in the space. Since launching in March of 2017, FreightWaves has become the fastest growing media site in all of trucking and logistics globally.

Inspired by publications like TechCrunch, WSJ, The Economist, and Bloomberg, FreightWaves aims to get to the bottom of how and why market trends will impact shippers, 3PLs, and carriers in the space. The company draws from a roster of experts that can provide color on what is happening in near-time and how this will impact the players. FreightWaves also has access to hundreds of data sources across the industry that are used to validate the assumptions the team is making on any of these elements.

FreightWaves is venture-funded and currently has a staff of three full-time writers and ten regular contributors. One of the full-time writers is in Europe covering emerging FreightTech and startups around the globe. Soon, the company plans to add a full-time writer in Singapore, to cover emerging FreightTech stories in the world’s fastest growing region.

Mason is active in the trucking and logistics industry, serving as past president of the Allied Committee for the Trucking Industry (ACT I), the American Trucking Association’s Communications & Image Policy Committee, the ATA Chairman’s Marketing Council and the Truckload Carriers Association Board of Directors.
