Goodyear is replacing one of its long-haul drive tires with a new model that features advancements that improve miles to removal and retreadability. The Endurance LHD is being introduced this week at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show in Atlanta.
“In today’s ultra-competitive freight hauling environment, no truck tire performance benefit is probably more important than long miles to removal,” said Dustin Lancy, marketing manager. “Enhanced mileage is an attribute that can positively impact a long-haul fleet’s bottom line.”
The SmartWay-verified tire is part of Goodyear’s Total Solutions and joins the WHA (waste haul) and RSA (regional) tires in the Endurance lineup.
The LHD replaces the G572A long-haul drive tire and is available today in 295 (Load Range G) and 11R22.5 (Load Ranges G and H) sizes. All sizes will be available in January, said Mahesh Kavatura, marketing manager.
“The cap compound is optimized for wear and the base compound is optimized for fuel efficiency,” Kavatura said.
The tire includes Goodyear’s Tredlock technology to stabilize the tread area for longer miles to removal and resistance to irregular wear. A steel-belt package adds to the casing toughness and a shoulder wedge helps stabilize the belt package.
The new cap on the tire promotes longer miles and lower rolling resistance, the company said.
Goodyear will release a matching tread next summer. The tread will be developed using Goodyear’s UniCircle technology and will match the tread design. UniCircle uses a spliceless design to build a long-lasting tread.
“Not only does [the retread] have the same look and feel, but it has the same cap compound,” Kavatura noted.
The retread will offer the same long miles to removal and low rolling resistance found in the LHD.
