ASSANTE APPOINTED PRESIDENT OF P&O’S NEWARK TERMNAL
Joseph Assante has been appointed president of Port Newark Container Terminal, owned jointly by P&O Ports and by P&O Nedlloyd.
Assante joins the company from American President Lines, where he has been director of North East operations since 1998, responsible for various operational activities for the region.
Prior to joining APL, Assante worked as operations manager for JFK-IAT Terminal 4 at J.F.K. Airport, and yard manager and marine operations manager for Maher Terminals in Elizabeth, N.J.
Port Newark Container Terminal, currently being redeveloped, commenced operations in mid-2000. It is now handling a container volume of over 400,000 TEUs a year.
