As National Truck Driver Appreciation Week kicked off, Convoy introduced a driver-focused savings program that packages current Convoy benefits with several new offerings, including a discount program that could potentially cut up to 30% off the cost of a used truck or trailer.

“On average, carriers are spending nearly $120,000 or 66% of their income per year that goes straight to covering their business and vehicle-related costs,” Convoy said in announcing the program. “They are left with just 33% of that income remaining to pay their personal bills, including mortgage, food, childcare, and provide for their families.”

The TruckYeah savings program is designed to help offset some of those costs.

Among the new benefits is a partnership with Ryder that offers registered Convoy members a discount of up to 30% on a Ryder (NYSE: R) pre-owned truck or trailer. Convoy said carriers could save as much as $10,000 per year through the program.

In addition to the Ryder discount, Convey fleets are eligible for $1,000 off the best truck offer and $500 off the best trailer offer through Penske and $0 down program on a new trailer through Great Dane.

Preventive maintenance programs are also part of the TruckYeah discount program through Boss Truck Shops. Carriers can receive a 20% discount on services at any Boss Truck Shops location in the 23 states it services. In conjunction with that discount is a program with Encore and FYX for roadside assistance protection for when breakdowns occur on the nation’s highway. For $49.99 per month, Convoy members can access Encore services such as three-hour port-to-port truck and trailer towing, mobile mechanic service and fuel delivery and access FYX’s network of over 10,000 vendors for roadside assistance.

“For owner-operators or small fleets, these expenses leave them with just over $45,000 per year to live off of,” Convoy said. “Since our inception, Convoy has made it our priority to improve the lives of these carriers by enabling them to earn more with less hassle. While we can’t rid carriers of these expenses completely, we are committed to helping them keep more of their income by providing steep savings on their significant operating costs.”

The company said the totality of the benefit program, including existing programs that have been repackaged under the TruckYeah program, could save owner-operators and small fleets as much as $35,000 per truck per year.

Other programs available to Convoy members under the program include the Convoy fuel card, which provides carriers up to 63 cents per gallon in savings, and Convoy factoring that offers qualified carriers the chance to factor their non-Convoy loads at rates from between 1% and 2.99%, with next-day payment, no contract lock-in, invoice or transaction fees. Both of these programs are offered through Apex Capital. TCS also participates in the fuel program.

Tire services available through Goodyear offer online prices usually reserved for large fleets. Finally, owner-operators and small fleets looking for electronic logging device (ELD) equipment and services can receive a 15% discount on hardware and monthly service through KeepTruckin.

“Altogether, the TruckYeah Savings program provides carriers in our network with tens of thousands of dollars of savings on their most critical expenses and helps them keep more of their hard-earned money. We created this program to benefit the carriers across our country who deliver each and every day to keep us moving forward,” Convoy said.
