Executive Moves: TIA, Echo and Scoular

The Transportation Intermediaries Association names three VPs; Echo hires chief HR officer; and Scoular taps brand marketing and corporate communications director.

The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), an organization devoted to the North American 3PL industry, has appointed Matt Mantione as vice president of membership and Chris Burroughs and Will Sehestedt as vice presidents of government affairs.

Mantione, who will lead the efforts in member growth, joins TIA from Design-Build Institute of America, for which he served as director of membership and region development. Prior to that role, he served the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers as senior director and spent more than a decade as director of global membership and regional vice president of relations for ASIS International, a 40,000-member organization for security professionals.

Burroughs was promoted from senior director of government affairs and has more than 11 years of congressional affairs experience. He serves as the staff liaison for the Highway Logistics Conference and Intermodal Logistics Conference. He began his career working on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee in 2006 and then later the House Natural Resources Committee. In 2009, he joined the Twenty-First Century Group, a bipartisan government affairs firm, as its director of government affairs.

Will Sehestedt, formerly the director of government affairs, serves as a staff liaison to policy committees that focus on technology, operations, international logistics and airfreight. He represents TIA on the Advisory Body for Safety and Security and Multimodal Transport Institute of FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations and sits on the Labor Committee at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Before joining TIA in 2014, Sehestedt served for nine years on the staff of Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont.

Echo Global Logistics Inc. has hired Paula Frey as chief human resources officer.

Frey previously worked at the Education Corporation of America as EVP and chief human resources officer. From 2008 to 2015, she worked at Sears Holdings Corporation in multiple roles, including senior HR business partner and vice president of human resources.

For 19 years, Frey was senior director of human resources at Motorola, working in mergers and acquisitions, business partnering, talent acquisition and talent management.

Amy Bailey has joined the Scoular Company in Omaha, Neb., as director of brand marketing and corporate communications.

Bailey most recently served as senior director of brand, buzz and insights marketing for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska. She also worked as a strategic business consultant for Right Management, help a variety of marketing positions with Applebee’s International and Kraft Foods and ran her own executive coaching and marketing business.

Scoular’s more than 100 independent business units provide supply chain solutions for end users and suppliers of grain and feed and food ingredients.
