The Ford Bronco, the company’s iconic offroad SUV, returns after a 24-year production hiatus, with the sport edition slated to be produced in Mexico.

Ford (NYSE:F) will begin manufacturing the Bronco Sport SUV in October at its Hermosillo plant. The Bronco Sport will join vehicles such as the Ford Fusion, Ford Fusion Police Responder and Lincoln MKZ, which are produced at the 34-year-old plant in northern Mexico.

Mexican officials hailed the Bronco Sport’s production in Mexico as another victory aided by the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, which went into effect July 1.

“The start of production of the new model is another example of confidence in the Sonoran labor force and that, despite the adversities, Sonora remains an attractive state for investment and new projects,” said Claudia Pavlovich, governor of the Mexican state of Sonora, in a statement.

The two-door 2021 Bronco Sport starts at $28,100; the larger four-door 2021 Bronco starts at $30,000. The Bronco will be built in Wayne, Michigan.

Ford’s new Bronco series could contribute nearly $1 billion to Ford’s North American operations if sales reach 125,000 units, Credit Suisse analyst Dan Levy wrote in a note to investors Monday on CNBC.
