Freight Futures data to watch: Weekly spot contract settlement changes

It was a mostly positive week for the Trucking Freight Futures markets as gains in the South and East helped push the spot National contract (FUT.VNU202006) higher by 0.4% to $1.480 per mile. The South regional contract (FUT.VSU202006) rose $0.019, or 1.45% week-over-week, to $1.330, with the East regional contract (FUT.VEU202006) finishing the week higher by 0.55% to $1.462. The West regional contract (FUT.VWU202006) slid $0.012, or 0.7%, to $1.647. 

On the individual lanes, the LAX to DAL (FUT.VLD202006) contract in the South jumped $0.056, or 3.4%, to $1.723 and was driven by strong freight volumes in the LAX area moving east. This gain, however, was partially offset by a $0.017 (1.8%) drop in the DAL to LAX (FUT.VDL202006) contract to $0.937. In the East, the CHI to ATL contract (FUT.VCA202006) surged $0.041, or 2.8%, to $1.504 while the ATL to PHL contract (FUT.VAP202006) fell 0.4% to $1.922 and the PHL to CHI contract (FUT.VPC202006) dropped 0.83% to settle the week at $0.961. In the West, a 0.8% rise in the SEA to LAX contract (FUT.VSL202006) to $0.786 was more than offset by a $0.030, or 1.2%, drop in the LAX to SEA contract (FUT.VLS202006) to $2.508.
