FreightWaves launches FreightWaves Classics

The history of freight, transportation, logistics and supply chains...

“The movement of freight literally began when mankind began. Therefore, I’m excited to announce the launch of FreightWaves Classics,” said Craig Fuller, FreightWaves’ founder and CEO. “FreightWaves Classics will shine a spotlight on the people, companies and technologies that have helped mankind move freight across the street and around the world through advances in transportation/logistics/supply chains. In typical FreightWaves fashion, these features will be informative, interesting and entertaining.”

Fuller added, “Using FreightWaves’ multimedia platform, FreightWaves Classics articles will  appear on FreightWaves.com and in a new newsletter. In time, a FreightCast podcast will be launched and features will appear on FreightWaves TV. There are many stories to tell, and I think the FreightWaves audience will enjoy learning more about how their industries have evolved over hundreds of years.”

FreightWaves Classics will incorporate articles from its “Friday Flashbacks” and “FreightWaves Flashbacks” series, the FreightWaves Haul of Fame, the archives of American Shipper and Maritime History Notes. In addition, new research will be undertaken to bring even more information to the FreightWaves audience.

In addition, FreightWaves hopes to hear from audience members about topics and those with first-hand knowledge about companies, events and the evolving state of freight, logistics, transportation and supply chains. If you have stories, information, photos, videos or other materials, please contact FreightWaves at fwclassics@freightwaves.com.

The first article will be published tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. EST (a time which has been reserved for these articles going forward). The article profiles the Interstate Commerce Commission, which was created to have federal regulatory jurisdiction over the railroad industry. It later regulated the trucking industry, interstate pipelines and many other areas of the transportation sector.

The FreightWaves staff hopes you enjoy FreightWaves Classics!
