Lisa McGinty, the first employee, returns to FreightWaves as Chief Marketing Officer

Lisa McGinty will be overseeing the company’s marketing and brand assets, including the BiTA Community, Transparency and Waves events, SONAR SaaS platform, and risk-management products.

Lisa was FreightWaves’ first employee and was involved in designing the initial goto market and branding strategy for the company. She left the company in 2017 before the organization secured the Seed capital round that was led by Fontinalis Partners. She stayed in the industry and took a role with Fleetcor/Comdata as head of product for small fleets.

“Lisa returning to FreightWaves is exciting. She was the first employee that joined our organization when we first launched and it was her vision to create a news and content site for the freight industry. She selected Brian Straight to lead our FreightWaves publication and held the vision that our business is more than futures contracts- our role is to provide full market transparency in the form of data analytics and news. When she left in the summer of 2017, her vision was not fully realized. Since then, we have developed the largest community devoted to transparency in the freight markets- through our news and data services and BiTA Community. Soon, she will assist us in the rollout of our SaaS platform and the launch of our futures contracts.” -Craig Fuller, CEO of FreightWaves stated.

Lisa is a seasoned marketing executive with over 28 years experience in developing and marketing brands and services across financial markets, payments and freight transportation industries. She’s held senior Marketing roles through her career at Thomson Reuters, GlobalView Software, edo Interactive and most recently, Fleetcor. Lisa is equally experienced in leading marketing and branding efforts for mature businesses representing over $250M in annual revenue, as she is bootstrapping as an early stage employee at innovative technology start ups. She prefers the energy and excitement of the latter.

Lisa will be responsible for marketing strategy and execution of the company’s products and brands. She will work closely with the product heads to ensure they receive the support to further their mission and are uniting around universal brand standards.

FreightWaves is building market-wide economic models using aggregated data sets to understand and analyze the health of the freight economy. To date, the company has partnered with accumulated data sets that represent hundreds of billions of dollars in freight transactions. The information is then modeled into aggregated indices that provide a near-time map of the market and be used to create actionable outcomes for participants.

FreightWaves.com is the most trafficked and engaged news source in the freight markets, according to Alexa. The company runs the BiTA community–the transportation industry blockchain forum, think tank, and standards organization–and is creating the world’s first freight futures contracts to help organizations hedge and trade their exposure to American trucking prices.
