Jet Specialty, a supply chain solutions provider for the oil and gas industry, announced it was laying off 75 employees in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Cardone Industries, an auto parts manufacturer also announced it has laid off 183 employees at its plant along the U.S.-Mexico border in Brownsville, Texas.

Officials with Cardone said the layoffs were part of the “dramatic, sudden and unforeseeable negative business circumstances the company is suffering due to COVID-19 pandemic,” according to its Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice filed in Texas.

Aftermarket auto parts maker Cardone Industries is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition to the Brownsville factory, Cardone has two other Texas facilities in Harlingen and Arlington, as well as locations in Canada and Mexico.

In April, Cardone announced layoffs and furloughs at its Philadelphia operations that affected 680 employees.

Jet Specialty, which is headquartered near San Antonio, said it would be permanently laying off 75 workers in Corpus Christi by July 2. Company officials did not specify a reason for the layoffs in its filing with the Texas Workforce Commission.

The company, which delivers supplies such as trailers and tanks to the oil fields, has 22 trucks and 17 drivers, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
