MTMC AIMS TO AWARD CARRIER CONTRACT BY JULY 15
The U.S. Military Traffic Management Command, the surface transportation logistics unit for the armed forces, hopes to award its annual ocean carrier service contract by July 15.
The so-called Universal Services Contract No. 3 will include about 100,000 TEUs or 4.5 million measurement tons of Defense Department cargo. The contract, which is divided by trade lane among U.S.-flag container and breakbulk carriers, is valued at $400 million and will last for a year from Sept. 1.
