NORTHWEST AIRLINES CARGO TO RAISE FUEL SURCHARGE

NORTHWEST AIRLINES CARGO TO RAISE FUEL SURCHARGE

Northwest Airlines Cargo said Friday it will raise its fuel surcharge to 10 cents per kilogram, or 5 cents per pound on the actual weight, effective Oct. 1.

The surcharge is for all domestic and international freight products, including VIP Same Day Package Services, except in countries pending government approval.

Shipper-loaded containers for U.S.-origin domestic and international shipments will be flat-rated based on ULD type. Applicable charges for these containers can be seen on the Web at http://www.cargo.nwa.com.

'Due to the last three weeks of significant increases in fuel prices, we are forced to take this action to defray additional costs,' said Richardson Sells, vice president of global sales. He added that NWA Cargo will watch spot-market fuel prices and may further adjust the surcharge later.
