Stockholm Norvik Port will be operated by Hutchison Ports after its opening in 2020.
Hutchinson Ports has signed a formal contract with the Ports of Stockholm to operate the new container terminal at Norvik Port.
The terminal is currently under construction until its opening in 2020. As the only deep-water container facility on the east coast of Sweden, the new terminal will provide greater capacity limits due to its 450-meter quay and 16.5-meter depth, Hutchinson Ports said. Future expansion will allow capacity levels to meet 450,000 TEUs annually.
Hutchinson Ports has operated the Container Terminal Frihamnen in Stockholm since 2009. After the new terminal opens, the Frihamnen will be redeveloped by the Ports of Stockholm for residential and amenity purposes.
