The Railway Supply Institute (RSI) Equipment Leasing Committee has named TrinityRail Senior Vice President Harry Zander as its new chairman. Zander brings 29 years of railcar leasing experience to the role, beginning with Chrysler Capital and including stints at GE Capital, Mitsui and Macquarie.

Joining Zander as committee vice chairman is Sean Hankinson, vice president of sales for The Andersons. Both will serve two-year terms.

RSI’s Equipment Leasing Committee is composed of representatives from prominent freight car leasing companies that collectively own and manage approximately 70% of all freight railcars in service throughout North America, investing more than $3 billion in new railcars annually. Its primary responsibility is “to evaluate and guide RSI in key regulatory and public policy issues affecting the leasing industry, which often involve railroad service relations issues.”

In addition, the committee responds to Association of American Railroads circular letters and other railroad proposals that affect private railcar owners, lessors and lessees.
