Total operating revenues dipped slightly at the trucking and logistics provider as fuel surcharge revenues fell and customer demand remained “tepid,” according to J.B. Hunt’s most recent financial statements.
J.B. Hunt posted third quarter 2015 profits of $115.1 million compared with $102.4 million in the same period last year, according to the company’s most recent financial statements.
Total operating revenues at the trucking and logistics provider was $1.59 billion for the current quarter compared with $1.60 billion for the third quarter of 2014.
The company said positive developments – rate increases; load growth of 3 percent in intermodal; a 6 percent increase in revenue producing trucks and improved asset productivity, excluding fuel surcharges, in dedicated contract services; a 9 percent increase in load volumes in integrated capacity solutions; and a 14 percent increase in truck count in its truck business segment – could not offset the decrease in fuel surcharge revenue and “tepid” customer demand resulting in a decrease in consolidated revenues compared to the prior year.
