Americold completes purchase of Atlanta, Ga. facility

The refrigerated warehousing and logistics specialist finalized the purchase of the Tradewater facility in Atlanta, Ga., for which it had assumed the lease since 2006.

Americold, a temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics provider to the food industry, finalized the purchase of the Tradewater facility in Atlanta, Ga.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, Americold said.
The site features temperature-controlled storage capabilities between 0 degrees Fahrenheit and 34 degrees Fahrenheit (-17.8 degrees Celsius and 1.1 degrees Celsius).
In addition, the Tradewater Facility is rail-served by CSX with temperature-controlled rail and truck docks and is equipped with 60 dock doors with significant staging area capabilities for an assortment of value-added services, which include: case picking; order-kitting and assembly; repacking; tempering; blast freezing; cross-docking; date coding; full transportation full-truck load and less-than truck load capabilities; and customized order processing.
The purchase of the Tradewater Facility, which is over 455,000 square feet, increases the company’s owned temperature-controlled storage capacity in the Atlanta market to more than 53 million cubic feet.
The Tradewater Facility was constructed in 2005 as a build-to-suite site for an international food producer.
Since 2006, Americold has assumed the lease of the facility and has operated it as a public refrigerated warehouse.
“As owners of the property, we will continue to invest in the site to further enhance the services offered to our clients,” Americold President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Boehler said in a statement.
Based out of Atlanta, Ga., Americold owns and operates over 175 temperature-controlled warehouses in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, China, Argentina and Canada.
