Pasha enters Hawaii container trade

Pasha Hawaii has begun offering container service between San Diego and Hawaii.
The Honolulu Advertiser said Wednesday that the first shipment of containers arrived in Honolulu last week.
The containers are being carried on the company’s ship Jean Anne, which has been providing
roll-on/roll-off service since 2005.
   Pasha’s Website says it’s
offering bi-weekly service using the three adjustable decks on the ship
that are capable of handling containerized cargo.
It said
40-foot containers and chassis will be available at
convenient container yard facilities in both Long Beach and
San Diego.

The Advertiser said the ship arriving last week carried about 50 40-foot containers.

Pasha has announced plans to enter the Hawaii-mainland container trade
in a much bigger way next fall with a ship now under construction at VT Halter Marine’s shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss.
That ship, the Marjorie C, will have space for 1,500 TEUs, as well as 2,750 vehicles. – Chris Dupin
