FEDEX SIGNS WITH BOEING FOR MORE MD-11s
Federal Express has signed an agreement with Boeing to convert 19 MD-11
passenger planes into freighters.
Under the proposed agreement, Boeing and FedEx will work together to
build the conversion kits, with Boeing’s new Airplane Services unit
providing the engineering data for the work. Boeing expects conversions to
begin in 2002.
Boeing is currently converting 11 MD-11s for FedEx, in addition to eight
MD-11 freighters already delivered to the Memphis-based integrated carrier.
Boeing also is converting DC-10s for FedEx.
