Teamsters ratify UPS Freight contract

Normal LTL operations resume following vote count Sunday.

UPS announced Sunday that UPS Freight workers represented by the Teamsters Union had ratified a new five-year agreement and normal operations would resume immediately.
UPS last week stopped picking up LTL freight in advance of the vote, conducted at local union meetings Wednesday to Sunday.
In Sunday’s announcement, UPS said the agreement “rewards our employees for their contributions to the success of the company, while enabling UPS to remain competitive.”
The Teamsters said members approved the contract, “the company’s last, best and final offer,” by a 77 percent to 23 percent margin. The Teamsters contract covers about 11,600 workers at UPS Freight.
UPS said Sunday, “We will resume normal operations and will immediately begin accepting new volume from UPS Freight customers. Our teams began contacting customers immediately after ratification.”
