KLM WINS BELL HELICOPTER LOGISTICS CONTRACT
KLM Cargo has signed a three-year contract with Bell Helicopter to provide distribution of spare parts in Europe, Africa and the Mideast.
Terms were not disclosed. As Bell’s preferred, in-house provider of spare parts distribution services, KLM will manage the movement of goods from Bell’s main plant in Texas to a bonded warehouse near Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. A KLM Cargo employee will prepare and ship orders to Europe, Africa and the Mideast.
The Bell contract marks progress in KLM’s strategy to build logistics management capabilities and direct airline-to-shipper relationships in the aerospace and high-tech industries. KLM Cargo set up its own logistics unit several years ago, sparking criticism from forwarders.
