CURE brings rail shippers to press Congress on rail issues

Three hundred rail customers are expected to descend on Capitol Hill Thursday to meet with their respective legislators about how the current rail crisis is affecting their states’ businesses and economies, CURE, a coalition of shippers seeking greater competition in the rail industry, said Tuesday.

The group will hold a press conference in conjunction at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the Senate Commerce Committee Hearing Room (253 Russell Senate Office Building), during which a group of Congress members will join rail customers and CURE to press for rail reform.

CURE is specifically seeking better relief from fuel surcharges and a more streamlined system through which to air grievances against the railroad before the Surface Transportation Board.
