CBP seizes 347 pounds of cocaine at Port of Savannah

The illegal narcotics, valued at over $6 million, were discovered inside a refrigerated container consisting of frozen pineapples from Costa Rica.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations at the Port of Savannah seized 347 pounds of cocaine valued at over $6 million last week.
The cocaine was discovered inside a refrigerated container of frozen pineapples from Costa Rica, CBP said.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations agents, along with Chatham County Sheriff’s Canine Officers helped with the search and processing of the narcotics.
Each day, CBP officers screen thousands of shipping containers at the Port of Savannah, and according to data gathered from BlueWater Reporting’s Port Dashboard tool, the port is frequented by 33 fully cellular container services that sail to regions outside of the East Coast of North America.
