Mobile seeking developer for rail terminal

Alabama State Port Authority said Thursday that it is seeking private sector participation to help develop a 74-acre Intermodal Container Transfer Facility.

Jimmy Lyons, the port authority's director and chief executive officer, said the Garrows Bend ICTF will be a continuation of the Choctaw Point project, which includes the Mobile Container Terminal, a joint venture between APM Terminals and the Terminal Link division of CMA CGM which opened last year.

The proposed rail terminal is supposed to handle both domestic and international traffic for multiple rail carriers and steamship lines, and also support an adjacent logistics park.

An information meeting and site tour is planned for 9 a.m. April 21 at the port authority's executive offices in Mobile, Ala. The meeting and tour are designed to familiarize potential respondents with the site and serve as a forum for clarification of issues raised by the port authority’s request for expression of interest.

Interested parties must register to receive the full RFEI and updates by sending their full name and contact information to ICTF@asdd.com. Expressions of interest must be submitted via electronic mail to the port authority by 4 p.m., May 22.
