DB Schenker promotes Barrie to U.S. CEO

Former senior vice president likes to “push the limits of the logistics and supply chain management industry.”

Global logistics provider DB Schenker on Monday appointed Jeffery Barrie as the chief executive officer for the United States effective Nov. 1.
Barrie will report to Philippe Gilbert, Region Americas CEO, and will be responsible for all P&L aspects in the United States.
“Today’s pace of change in the logistics industry is exponential, and Jeff brings global experience, exceptional results and a passion like no other,” Gilbert said in the announcement. “Industry drivers such as digitalization, big data, innovative warehouse software and autonomous driving mean that our CEO in the U.S.A. needs to thrive in a highly dynamic environment, to be capable of accelerating what is working very well for Schenker and disrupt what needs to change.”
Barrie, who has more than 25 years of logistics industry experience, joined DB Schenker in 2006 when it acquired BAX Global. He most recently served as the senior vice president of global projects and oil and gas.
“When I joined the DB Schenker team 12 years ago, I wanted to be a part of a company where we could push the limits of the logistics and supply chain management industry. Today I am even more convinced that DB Schenker is that company,” Barrie said.
“DB Schenker is today one of the largest integrated logistics service providers in the United States, with over 7,000 employees in 39 branches and 55 logistics centers providing over 21 million square feet of distribution operations to our clients,” he said.
