The acquisition still needs approval from China and the Ukraine.
Mexico has given unconditional approval to the plan for CSAV to merge its container-shipping activities with Hapag-Lloyd.
The merger has also been approved by regulators in the U.S., Chile, European Union and Brazil. Approvals from China and the Ukraine are pending, the company said.
The transaction will make Hapag-Lloyd the fourth-largest container shipping company in the world, with some 200 vessels, an annual transport volume of 7.5 million TEUs, and a combined turnover of approximately 9 billion euros ($11.3 billion).
