CBP names new trade relations director

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has appointed Bradley F. Hayes to the position of executive director of trade relations in the Office of the Commissioner.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has appointed Bradley F. Hayes to executive director of trade relations in the Office of the Commissioner, CBP said in a statement Monday.
Prior to this appointment, Hayes was chief of staff for the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Policy, and before that was director of congressional and public affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
At the Washington, D.C.-based chamber, Hayes led the chamber’s advocacy efforts on cybersecurity, technology, intellectual property, and trade. “By building and managing strong industry partnerships and coalitions, he represented interests of the business community to Congress and regulatory agencies,” Acting CBP Commissioner Kevin K. McAleenan said of Hayes’ appointment.
Hayes also served six years as an attorney on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. As deputy chief counsel for the Republican ranking member, he handled the committee issues involving immigration, intellectual property, national security, and oversight, while also managing the Subcommittee on Administrative Oversight and the Courts. He also participated in the preparation and vetting of judicial nominations, including four current Supreme Court justices.
