E2E Inc. receives patent for container tracking system

E2E Inc., a designer of container tracking systems, has received a U.S. patent for a security system that continuously tracks the movement of cargo in domestic and international shipping from point of departure to point of destination.

The E2E system uses one or more wireless electronic seals to communicate with a central computer, providing the current location of cargo at regular intervals or upon demand.

The electronic seals, each with its own identification number, are activated upon locking of the seal to a closed cargo container. During shipment, the seal transmits its location to the central computer, which compares the location of the shipment to a calculated expected route. The seal also signals the central computer when the container is opened.

The company's patent application lists Henry B. Ulrich of Bayville, N.Y., as inventor of the system. The patent number is 6,973,385. E2E Inc. is based in Melville, N.Y.
