Executive Moves: DNV, Kane Is Able, FPS and University of Denver’s Transportation Institute

DNV and Kane Is Able appoint senior executives, while FPS and the University of Denver’s Transportation Institute add to their boards.

   DNV GL Group has appointed Tor Svensen group executive vice president, while Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen will succeed Svensen as chief executive officer of its maritime business area. Svensen has been the CEO and President of DNV’s maritime business since 2003. Prior to his appointment, Ørbeck-Nilssen had served two years as chief operating officer and senior vice president of DNV’s maritime business.

   Kane Is Able has named John W. Hurst senior vice president of operations, overseeing 25 company-operated distribution centers and transportation operations across the country. Prior to joining the company, Hurst was senior vice president and general manager at Yusen Logistics Americas. He has also held senior management roles with Performance Team, APL Logistics, GATX Logistics and CEVA Logistics.

   Famous Pacific Shipping Group (FPS) has appointed Sam Aparo as its advisory board chairman. He replaces FPS Group founder Benny Ling, who has taken early retirement on health grounds. In addition to Aparo, the board also comprises Treasurer Iskandar Zulkarnain, CEO of FPS Indonesia, and Membership Director Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, CEO of FPS Thailand and Leo Logistics.

   The University of Denver’s Transportation Institute has elected Linda Bauer Darr, president of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, and Brad Skinner, executive chairman of OmniTRAX, to its board.
