Executive Moves: Port of Long Beach, GCT, BIFA and RSTAC

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners approves the appointment of the port’s managing director of finance and administration, GCT appoints new president and CEO, BIFA elects national chairman, and RSTAC names new member.

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners approves the appointment of the port’s managing director of finance and administration, GCT appoints new president and CEO, BIFA elects national chairman, and RSTAC names new member.

   The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the appointment of Sam Joumblat as the port’s managing director of finance and administration effective Aug. 7. Joumblat, who is chief financial officer of Total Transportation Services Inc., worked at the Port of Long Beach from 2006 to 2014 as chief financial officer. Before that, he served as deputy city auditor with the City of Long Beach. He also has vast experience in the private industry, working as a senior manager with Arthur Andersen, and spending 15 years with Atlantic Richfield Co., where he held a number of managerial positions that included supervising internal auditing, general accounting, contracting, information technology, and environmental health and safety.

   GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. has appointed Doron Grosman as president and chief executive officer, replacing Stephen Edwards, who served in the position since September 2012. Grosman was most recently operating partner at New York-based private equity firm Court Square Capital Partners from 2010 until 2017.

   The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has elected Mark Bromley as the new national chairman for a two-year period, succeeding Fred Osborn, who is becoming immediate vice-chairman for a two-year term.
   John Stubbings, group director and company secretary of the Woodland Group, was elected vice-chairman of the board, while Peter Bottomley retains his position as president of BIFA.

   Port of New Orleans President and CEO Brandy Christian has been appointed to the Railroad-Shipper Transportation Advisory Council (RSTAC). The council is comprised of 15 appointed members and was created by statute under the Surface Transportation Board (STB) to provide advice on regulatory, policy and legislative matters to the STB Chairman; the Secretary of Transportation; the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation; and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
