Diana adds 12th containership to its fleet

Containership charterer also expects delivery of an additional vessel this month.

Diana Containerships has taken delivery of the YM Los Angeles, a 2006-built panamax containership with an approximate capacity of 5,000 TEUs that the company entered into an agreement to purchase on March 19, 2015. Diana now has 12 containerships in its fleet – eight panamax and four post-panamax. A 13th ship, and the ninth panamax vessel, is expected to be delivered by the middle of this month.
As previously announced, the ship is chartered to Yang Ming at a gross charter rate of $21,000 per day less $350 per day commission paid to third parties. The charterer has the option to redeliver the vessel at any time between October 19, 2016 and February 19, 2017. The charterer has also the option to employ the vessel for a further 22-26 months at the same rate, less the commission.
