U.S. Customs and Border Protection has appointed David P. Higgerson to the director of its Laredo, Texas, field office.
He was formerly director of the agency’s El Paso, Texas, field office. Higgerson succeeds Noel Sanchez, acting director of the Laredo field office and former deputy commander of the South Texas Campaign.
As director of field operations for Laredo, Higgerson will oversee the operations of eight ports of entry extending from Brownsville to Del Rio, Texas. CBP’s Laredo field office processes the largest amount of commercial truck traffic in the United States, with nearly $143 billion in merchandise entering in fiscal year 2013 through 23 crossings, six airports and one seaport which comprise the eight ports of entry.
Higgerson has worked for the federal government more than 40 years.
