G-LOG SIGNS UP EXEL’S MARK VII

Global Logistics Technologies Inc., a Connecticut-based developer of online logistics software, has signed an agreement with Mark VII Transportation Co., a U.S.-based third-party logistics provider recently purchased by MSAS Global Logistics, now Exel plc.

Mark VII will use G-Log’s online logistics management system to implement better communications within its network of 125 offices and agents. G-Log helps companies to optimize freight management through better routing and shipment tracking.

Mark VII, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Exel, is one America’s largest players in intermodal transportation management, which involves coordinating ocean, truck and rail shipments. The company has contracts with more than 8,000 carrier partners covering every mode of transport in the United States. Major clients include Georgia Pacific, Miller Brewing, Kimberly Clark, Frito Lay and Exxon-Mobil.

“After reviewing all the available platforms, we selected G-Log because of its experience in this industry and its focus on the development of a global Internet-based logistics system,” said Mark Genereaux, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Mark VII. “This initiative will allow us to leverage our execution expertise in transportation management and enable our customers, agents, and carriers to execute optimally with real-time visibility within our network.”
