Styrk to head Seattle seaport division

The Port of Seattle said Friday that Linda Styrk, director of seaport marketing, has been chosen to head its seaport division.

Styrk came to the port in 2005, after serving as president of the office and warehouse operation for Universal Freight Forwarders in Seattle. Styrk also spent 12 years with APL.

Tay Yoshitani, the port’s chief executive officer, said Styrk “understands the competitive pressures facing the shipping industry, and she has proven her ability to bring cargo to our port.”

Charlie Sheldon, the outgoing seaport managing director, will work with Styrk as she transitions into her new role, and will continue with the port through the end of the year assisting with several projects.
