Philadelphia gains two additional container services

SeaLand and APL ships will call Packer Avenue Terminal at the Port of Philadelphia.

Holt Logistics Corp. said two additional weekly services from South and Central America will call its Packer Avenue Marine Terminal in Philadelphia.
SeaLand, the intra-Americas regional ocean carrier of the Maersk Group, has agreed to expand its South American Express service to include a weekly call to the Packer Avenue terminal.
Furthermore, a vessel sharing agreement between SeaLand and American President Lines will create a new North American Express service, bringing an additional vessel to the South Philadelphia terminal each week.
The South American Express service, operated solely by SeaLand, will begin weekly calls to Packer Avenue beginning June 3. The additional port call in Philadelphia will expand SeaLand’s direct connections from Central America into the Northeast. The string had previously terminated in Virginia.
Holt said targeted products for the SAE include tropical fruits, frozen vegetables and paper commodities.
The North Atlantic Express service operated by SeaLand and APL is expected to commence sailing in late June.
