Ocean carrier says “there are no indications” any oil leaked from the NYK tanker Takamine despite reports to the contrary.
According to a statement from NYK Line, several false media reports appeared over the weekend alleging that an NYK tanker vessel, the Takamine, was leaking crude oil into Tokyo Bay in Japan.
The ocean carrier said “there are no indications that any leakage of oil occurred from this ship” during the time it was discharging its cargo at Keihin Kawasaki sea berth on Friday, despite “several” reports to the contrary.
NYK reports the Takamine is continuing normal operations and has already sailed safely to its next port of call.
